The 2020 Stellenbosch Syrah front label, featuring Amy Liu's painting Metamorphosis

Coming Soon · Our Next Release

2020 Stellenbosch Syrah

Our 2026 release is from our 2021 scholarship recipient Amy Liu for her painting “Metamorphosis,” which is featured on the front label. Her work explores the profound human yearning for a post-traumatic oasis and represents the psychological battle between a grateful sense of survival and the haunting echoes from the past. Searching for inner peace despite a wounded heart, her visual storytelling begins with the chapter where the wounded wanderer found a reason to go on.

The wine is 100% Syrah grown in the prestigious Stellenbosch region of South Africa. This 2020 vintage has just the right amount of age on it to capture the essence of one of the world's most celebrated wine-producing regions. Benefiting from granite-rich soils, abundant sunshine, and cooling maritime influences, the grapes develop exceptional concentration and balance. This distinctive terroir produces a wine layered with dark fruit, cocoa, subtle spice, and refined structure. The flavor profile led by toasted coconut and dark chocolate blend with notes of mulberry, rum, and molasses. The finish is dry and full of flavor delivering a bold yet elegant expression of Stellenbosch Syrah.

Cassis, tilled earth and cherry skins dovetail harmoniously with aromas of fennel, sweet tobacco, and roasted bell peppers. Complex, lean, and resembling a young Pomerol, this refined and herbaceous wine has excellent pairing potential largely thanks to its well-integrated tannins. Pairing: roasted eggplant, grilled quail, and various cured meats.

Citrus and tropical fruit with some floral notes; slight oak with hints of vanilla; medium intensity and alcohol.

The label carries Folly by Mary Ball, the first recipient of the Ozymandias Wines Scholarship at the New York Academy of Art in 2017. The feeling in the painting matches the wine almost too well: it is like drinking summertime in a glass.

The Ozymandias 2013 maiden-vintage front label, with artwork by Sophy Holland

Ozymandias 2013

The 2016 release is a 2013 vintage from North Fork, Long Island. This was our maiden vintage, grown in the Haven loam soil of the North Fork, whose gifts are still scarcely known. I built this blend with label artist Sophy Holland. It pours opaque and substantial, bursting with ripe berries, toasty oak and a hint of caramel, and finishes long and velvety, a wine for experienced and first-time drinkers alike.

The nose is chock-full of dark fruits: blackberries; black cherries; black plum; blueberry skins. On the palate the wine becomes alive and more expressive, with rustic characteristics. Tobacco leaf, saddle back leather, black pepper, smoke dried herbs, peaty and slightly herbaceous. Drink now til 2025. Enjoy with a rib eye, smoked meats, aged cheddar, roasted game, braised lamb, and grilled vegetables.

The maiden label was created with Sophy Holland, a New York City artist directing a documentary on sleep disorders and circadian rhythms. The label symbolizes the subconscious and dream states, giving roots to the wine itself.
